Athan Vlahos would eventually follow in his father’s footsteps

Today he’s in charge of Nikko’s services.

Article from the Coshocton Tribune by Chris Crook.

COSHOCTON – Mention the name Nikko’s and a few things come to mind – like a dry cleaner, alteration service and self-serve laundry, as well as a limousine service. It all started with Nikko Vlahos. And it’s largely now run by his son, Athan Vlahos.

“I’m just trying to make sure nothing happens to our biz on my watch,” he said. “I would hate to disappoint my dad.

“My dad always encouraged me to do or be anything I wanted,” Athan added. “But mostly, I wanted to be like him.”

Now 50, Athan was born in Athens, Greece. He was adopted there by Nikko and Thania Vlahos, then brought to Coshocton where he was raised and has lived most of his life.

“Growing up in a Greek family was great,” he noted. “My dad was a hard-working, self-made man who was gone a lot, but a great dad also. My mom was a schoolteacher and if it weren’t for her, I’d probably still be in an orphanage in Greece.
